Free Virtual Keyboard

With the right piece of software by your side, you don’t need a keyboard to type in content into a message or email, for example. There are specialized tools that put a virtual keyboard on your screen – so by clicking on the screen, you get the same effect as typing on the keyboard. The appropriately named Free Virtual Keyboard offered by Comfort Software is such a specialized tool. It puts a customizable virtual keyboard on your desktop or portable PC’s screen.

Free Virtual Keyboard works with multiple Windows editions, anything from Windows 2000 up to Windows 8. To get started with the application, you need only download a very small executable (less than 1MB in size) and run it. Once you do so, Free Virtual Keyboard will show up on your screen and you’ll be able to use it. It must be mentioned here that the first time you launch Free Virtual Keyboard you will be guided to a “Thank you for using our free virtual keyboard” webpage.

By default, the virtual keyboard is placed down at the bottom of your desktop. You can drag and drop the virtual keyboard to any other location you want; so feel free to place it anywhere you want on the screen. If you feel the keyboard is too small, you can enlarge it; you can do this by dragging on the corners, just like you would when resizing any other window. And if you don’t like the default color scheme, you can change it; to do so, you must right click on the interface and then choose the Change Colors option. It must be mentioned here that the right click context menu also features a Change Keyboard Type option – use it to switch between several keyboard types.

Using Free Virtual Keyboard is a very straightforward process: just launch the application and start clicking. The application will simulate a real keyboard so by clicking on Free Virtual Keyboard you emulate keyboard presses. This may not seem like much when you have a desktop computer with a keyboard connected to it – it is something though when you have a mobile computer and you find the hardware keyboard too cumbersome to use.
